Q: What does this certification stand for, is it nationally/internationally recognized?

A: This program, once completed with a passing grade, entitles you to a certificate of completion and the rights to use the Dog Knowledge Certified branding. It is not a nationally/internationally recognized certification program and the purpose it serves is to provide up-to-date, evidence based knowledge and skills to those working with dogs. At the moment there are no standards or regulations within the pet care industry. We hope that Dog Knowledge will demonstrate that professionals that have taken the course want to learn more, want to update their knowledge about canine behaviour and will then become better professionals.

Q: Does a Dog Knowledge Certified Professional always use force-free or methods that are humane?

A: Dog Knowledge Professionals are strongly urged to adhere to a set of standards that are humane, force-free and do not use tools such as shock collars, prong collars, choke chains or use force or intimidation to work with animals. Those that take our course will be educated on the dangers of such practices however, how they decide to work with animals will be up to them.

Q: Does Dog Knowledge train students to become trainers/pet care professionals?

A: No. This course is designed to work with those that are interested in, or are already working in the pet professional field.

Q: Is it mandatory to take Level 1 before Level 2?

A: Not necessarily. If you can demonstrate that you have experience or a background working in the pet industry, such as a dog trainer, contact us and we can determine which Level is the best fit for you.

Q: What if I need to withdraw/cancel?

A: You can cancel or withdraw within 14 days of the course taking place with a refund of the cost of the course minus 30% for processing fees.

Q: If I don't pass the exam can I take it again?

A: Yes, there is a $20 USD fee to retake the exam
